🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In May 2015, an observer in Toulouse noticed a V-shaped formation of luminous points appearing and disappearing in the night sky. The unique testimony described how one of the points detached from the group before everything vanished. Although initially intriguing, the GEIPAN concluded it could be migratory birds. The explanation was based on the possibility that gulls or ducks, flying in formation, could create a luminous effect when moving from a dark to a lit area.
The hypothesis of migratory birds was supported by an ornithology expert, although doubts remained about how urban lighting could create such a clear contrast. Despite this, the testimony was considered coherent and detailed, leading to the case being classified as a probable bird sighting. This type of explanation is relatively new in UFO phenomenon analysis, suggesting some previous cases might have been misinterpreted.
