On June 25, 2015, at around 3:15 AM, a witness in Nantes observed a luminous point moving in a straight line, identified as a satellite. Then, a larger object, white and orange in color, was seen moving at high speed without blinking or making noise. This second object appeared to stop, change direction abruptly, and disappear. Satellite records indicate that at that time the satellite COSMOS 2428 was visible, although the Iridium 52 satellite is also considered, known for its bright flash and short duration. The witness described a sharp turn and sudden acceleration, typical when a satellite enters Earth's shadow or changes orientation relative to the sun. The GEIPAN classified the case as "A", attributing it to the flash of the Iridium 52 satellite.
