On July 9, 2015, two witnesses in the Seine-et-Marne region of France observed a bright object quickly passing through the sky. They described a luminous ball followed by a trail, a typical sign of a fireball. Although such events can be startling, they often have natural explanations, such as a meteorite entering the atmosphere. The GEIPAN, the French organization responsible for investigating unidentified aerial phenomena, received another simultaneous report, while the international IMO organization recorded 14 observations. After reviewing the data, the case was classified as "A," indicating a confirmed atmospheric entry of a meteorite that caused a bright luminous phenomenon.
