During the early hours of July 12, 2015, a group of friends in Gannevilliers observed dozens of orange spheres crossing the sky in a straight line. The phenomenon was silent and lasted only a few minutes. Although only one witness was recorded, the description matched the typical behavior of Thai lanterns. These lights moved from southeast to east, following the wind direction recorded in the area. The GEIPAN classified the case as "B," indicating it was likely a private celebration that released the lanterns at the end of a party.
UFO sightings are often mysterious, but in this case, meteorological data and the visual description helped clarify the situation. Thai lanterns, commonly used in celebrations, well explain the straight-line movement and direction of travel. Although only one witness reported the event, the coherence with other environmental factors supports the hypothesis of a nighttime celebration.
