Summary

On August 5, 2015, two witnesses in Darnieulles (Vosges) observed between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM the silent passage of several glowing orange balls in a clear sky. These objects, which flickered and moved quickly toward the northwest, gradually lost intensity before disappearing. Although it might initially seem like an extraordinary phenomenon, the GEIPAN concluded that these were likely Thai lanterns launched after a private celebration. Weather conditions did not allow confirmation of a correlation with the observed movement, but one witness described the glow as similar to a candle flame, reinforcing the hypothesis of terrestrial objects.
