🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On August 6, 2015, a witness in Lyon observed a sudden, intense green light entering their apartment. The light moved rapidly across the walls for a few seconds, surprising the witness. Although the possibility of a laser was ruled out due to the witness's location on the fourth floor, no other witnesses were found. The GEIPAN concluded that this was likely a green laser beam manipulated manually from a distance. These powerful lasers, which are illegal to sell in France, can project light for several kilometers, making their movements appear fast and random. While using them to target aircraft is severely punished, there is no way to identify the operator in this case.
