On September 13, 2015, a witness in Aucamville observed from their balcony the passage of 8 luminous objects moving silently from the southeast to the northwest. The objects appeared one after another, displaying a bright orange glow against a clear sky. Although the witness took photographs, they turned out blurry, showing only a faint orange circle. Nevertheless, the images confirmed the reality of the phenomenon.
The movement, color, and direction matched the typical characteristics of Thai lanterns. These are often released during local or private celebrations and their trajectory is influenced by the wind. In this case, an east wind blowing from the southeast was recorded, aligning with the observed movement. Since lanterns are usually launched one after another with regular intervals, the result is an orderly line of flying lights in the sky. Due to their low intrinsic brightness, Thai lanterns are often perceived as farther away than they actually are, making them seem faster. The GEIPAN classified this case as "B", likely attributing it to Thai lanterns.
