Summary

On September 28, 2015 at 5:26 AM, a witness in Loupian (France) observed a red triangular object silently moving across the sky for five seconds. The object had bright red rounded ends and a less luminous body, moving in a straight line parallel to the horizon before disappearing suddenly. Only one testimony was collected, limiting the possibility of verification. Analysis suggests it could be a perceptual illusion, where only the three red lights were real. Although three visible satellites were identified in the area, their trajectory and timing do not exactly match the observation, raising doubts about a direct link. The red color could be explained by atmospheric refraction at low elevation, though the possibility of Thai lanterns was also considered. However, the time and day (Monday morning) make this unlikely. The GEIPAN classified this case as category C due to insufficient information to confirm or reject the hypotheses. While the phenomenon does not seem particularly strange, it remains intriguing.
