🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On October 28, 2015, at 4:30 AM, a witness in Audierne (France) observed two very bright white points in the southeast sky. For about thirty minutes, the objects moved little, maintaining a straight ascending trajectory, without making any noise. The witness took three photographs, but clouds soon covered the objects. There were no other witnesses. After analysis, the GEIPAN concluded that it was Venus and Jupiter, whose positions matched the observation. However, there were discrepancies in the estimated direction and elevation. After a conversation with the witness and using local geographical references, it was confirmed that they were looking east. Although the witness estimated an elevation of 30°, the photos and the Stellarium reconstruction showed around 10°. Ultimately, the case was classified as A, attributed to a planetary conjunction.
