Red lights in the sky over Eygalieres

Summary

On October 24, 2015, several people in Eygalieres (France) observed a group of red lights slowly moving across the sky. They appeared at low altitude and ascended toward the north-northwest before disappearing above Saint-Sixte and Le Contras. A witness took photos and videos, while others confirmed the sighting by phone. Although the local wind direction could not be precisely determined at the time, the testimonies matched the typical behavior of paper lights, such as Thai lanterns.

The GEIPAN, the French organization responsible for investigating unidentified aerial phenomena, classified the case as "B," meaning a likely observation of paper lights. The analyzed photos did not show real objects, only technical camera flaws like "dead pixels," common in night photography. Despite the lack of conclusive visual evidence, the testimonies and context point to a conventional explanation.
