🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
An interesting case recorded by the GEIPAN in November 2015 describes the observation of a triangular object with white lights at the corners and two red ones in the center. Two people in a car noticed the object flying silently at low altitude, in a cloudy sky. The witness, a former soldier, did not recognize it as an airplane or helicopter. Although initially puzzling, radar data from the CNOA revealed that a medical helicopter was in the exact area, at the same time and trajectory described. The match between the testimony and radar data suggests the object was a helicopter, though its unusual lighting and initial silence caused confusion. The GEIPAN concluded the observation was clearly identifiable as a helicopter, classifying it as case A.
