In December 2015, a witness in Banassac (France) observed a fixed orange light that suddenly disappeared. When returning for more firewood, they noticed up to four other lights vanishing one after another. Although the witness claimed the object flew south, the report suggests these were Thai lanterns. These lights, common during festivals, hover until the candle burns out and they fall. The weather data supports this explanation: overcast sky, light wind, and good visibility. Additionally, the date—a Saturday after Christmas—fits family celebrations where such lanterns are often launched. The conclusion is that this was a probable observation of Thai lanterns.
