Summary

On February 17, 2016, a witness in Aveyron saw from their home a bright point moving from north to south along a descending trajectory. The observation lasted between 3 and 5 seconds. Although only one direct testimony was recorded, this event coincided with a fireball seen by more than 120 people in different areas of southern France. The International Meteor Organization (IMO) confirmed the event, leading the GEIPAN to classify this case as "A", meaning a verified fireball observation. These types of cases, while initially seeming unexplained, often have a clear astronomical explanation.
