Summary

On April 19, 2016, a witness in Cenon (Gironde, France) observed an object moving from southeast to northwest through a window. The object was described as an orange-hued ball with an orange halo around its edges. It was dimly lit, silent, and left no trail behind as it passed overhead for about five seconds before disappearing. Although no other witnesses were reported, the observer provided a detailed account, including a reconstruction of the object's trajectory on the window. After reviewing the description and environmental conditions, the GEIPAN concluded that the object was likely a Thai lantern carried by the east wind. This conventional explanation led to the case being classified as "B".
