Summary

On October 5, 2014, three people in the small village of Boissezon observed a bright red object in the sky. It remained stationary at first, then rose and moved toward Roquebrun before disappearing. Two witnesses filed a report with the gendarmerie, but no other testimonies were received. The investigation considered factors such as movement with the wind, color, brightness, shape, and duration of the observation. They concluded it was likely a sky lantern, also known as a "Thai lantern."

The GEIPAN classification marked the case as category B, indicating a probable observation of this type of object. Although the witnesses were convinced of what they saw, the collected elements point to a conventional explanation. These kinds of lights, which rise and move with the wind, are common in certain regions and could explain the observers' experience.
