Luminous objects over Lievin in 2016

Summary

In May 2016, several witnesses in Lievin observed luminous objects moving slowly across the sky. The balls or spheres, yellow-orange in color, moved in the same direction without making any noise. Although photos and videos were taken, the GEIPAN did not receive them. The testimonies were consistent in details such as color, shape, and trajectory, suggesting the use of Thai lanterns. The night was festive, supporting this explanation. Local wind was not recorded, but in a nearby area it was weak and variable. The lanterns, flying at low altitude, could move quickly, explaining the perception of rapid movement in the sky.
