On July 30, 2016, a witness in Ariège observed a very bright orange point above the horizon in a cloudy sky. Initially mistaken for a forest fire or atmospheric entry, the phenomenon lasted between 2 and 3 minutes before stretching into an inverted "L" shape. Only one testimony was collected, and after analyzing the witness's drawing and the sky map, it was determined to be a misperception. The low and partially visible Moon between clouds created the optical illusion. The case was classified as "A," indicating no unexplained elements.
