In June 2012, a witness observed an orange column of light near Fourches hill, in Langres, around 3 a.m. The phenomenon lasted about fifteen seconds before suddenly disappearing. Immediately after, the witness saw two yellow glowing spheres moving around the location, which also vanished abruptly. The next day, the witness visited the area but found no signs of scorched grass or footprints. The GEIPAN concluded that the case was not particularly unusual, as it could be explained by a campfire, a torch, or even an agricultural vehicle surrounded by people with flashlights. Moreover, the same witness reported a similar observation in 2016, in the same area, with similar characteristics, reinforcing the case classification.
