On August 26, 2016, at 4:54 AM, a witness on their terrace observed three luminous disc-shaped objects emitting a white opaque light. They moved in a triangular formation from north to south without making any noise. The observation lasted between 4 and 5 seconds, and only one testimony was collected. Although the description matched that of typical lanterns, the trajectory aligned with the wind direction that night. Additionally, the sky was clear, typical of August, a season favorable for such festive events. The gendarmerie recorded a similar phenomenon the night of August 27 to 28. For these reasons, the GEIPAN classified the case as a probable observation of Thai lanterns.
