🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On July 9, 2016, around 10:45 PM, a witness and his wife observed for three minutes an orange circular object moving silently under a cloudy ceiling. The object changed shape from circular to cylindrical and turned black after changing direction. It was observed with the naked eye and binoculars, but only one testimony was collected. The description clearly resembles a Thai lantern, both in color and appearance, as well as in the movement consistent with the prevailing wind direction. Additionally, the final phase, where the light fades and the dark body of the lantern becomes visible, also fits this explanation. The GEIPAN classified the case as B, considering it a probable observation of a Thai lantern.
