🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
A witness in Troyes, France, reported in 2016 a formation of white lights in the sky moving in a triangular pattern. The observation lasted about 10 seconds and no sound was heard. Although initially unusual, the GEIPAN analysis concluded it was a Falcon aircraft flying at low altitude. Reconstruction data showed the plane passed just 3800 meters from the witness, at an altitude of 4900 meters. The perception of lights as aligned points could be due to the aircraft's proximity, allowing the witness to discern details like windows, something uncommon in higher-flying planes.
A peculiar detail was the presence of a single light above the horizontal line, possibly explained by additional lights on non-commercial jets or a perceptual error. The silence during the observation was attributed to wind blowing against the plane's direction. Although the witness didn't mention the Falcon directly, the matching time, direction, and characteristics support this explanation. The case was classified as A: aircraft observation.
