🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On September 9, 2011, around 10:10 PM, several people in the same neighborhood of Montauban observed a luminous phenomenon moving quickly across the sky from south to north. Two independent witnesses described an object shaped like a "water drop" or "white bean" moving silently without illuminating its surroundings. The object gradually decreased in size as it moved away. The initial investigation considered the possibility of Thai lanterns or a local celebration, but the witnesses rejected these explanations. Eventually, the case was linked to the atmospheric entry of a meteoroid or space debris, and the GEIPAN classified it as a possible fireball sighting.
