Summary

In July 2017, four people in Le Cannet observed four very bright points moving rapidly across a clear sky. Using binoculars and taking numerous photos, they were intrigued by the phenomenon. The observation lasted about 13 minutes, with some objects suddenly disappearing. Although only one testimony was collected, all objective data aligned with the hypothesis of Mylar balloons. These balloons, with reflective surfaces, can shine intensely in sunlight. Their brightness can suddenly decrease if the sun is briefly obscured by clouds or if they are hidden by trees. The apparent speed was also explained by wind conditions. Therefore, the GEIPAN classified the case as Mylar balloons.
