🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On November 1, 2005, a witness in Meursault (Côte-d'Or) observed a very bright white ball with two red points on each side. The object slowly moved toward the southwest without noise or change in direction. Two weeks later, the same person made a similar observation. Local gendarmes noted the phenomenon could have been a star. Upon reviewing the sky map for the time of the sighting, a conjunction of Venus, Mercury, Uranus, and Antares was identified, with Venus particularly bright. It is very likely that the witness mistook this astronomical alignment for an unusual phenomenon. The GEIPAN classified the case as B, indicating it is likely an astronomical observation.
