On a December day in 2017, a witness in a taxi in the Rhône region observed a green fluorescent spot in the sky. Curious, he took photos and recorded a video with his smartphone. The witness, interested in spiritual entities, believed he had found a figure following him. However, analysis revealed it was a solar reflection caused by the phone's lens. In several images, the sun, out of focus, creates a green halo at specific points. In one photo, the reflection lands precisely on a bush, reinforcing the witness's confusion.
The GEIPAN, the French organization responsible for investigating such cases, concluded the phenomenon was nothing more than a photographic artifact. Although the witness claimed to have verified with his eyes, he failed to distinguish between what he saw directly and what appeared on the screen. The lack of skepticism and the expectation of finding something extraordinary led to a misinterpretation. Ultimately, the case was classified as "photographic artifact (sun)", closing an investigation that, although passionate, had no supernatural basis.
