Summary

On March 30, 2018, a witness in Gironde observed a reddish light moving silently across the sky. Shortly after, he saw two similar phenomena and took a photo with his phone. One of the objects changed direction toward him, prompting him to go out again with his partner. Together, they observed up to seven lights in motion. Only these two witnesses provided testimony. Although one questioned the initial explanation, investigators concluded that the phenomenon was likely Thai lanterns. The color, number of objects, the weekend night timing, and the wind direction from southeast to northwest all supported this hypothesis. The witness insisted that one object turned toward him, but experts noted this could be a misinterpretation or a local wind deviation. Ultimately, the case was classified as probably explained.
