In May 2018, a teenager in France filmed a luminous phenomenon in the sky during a storm. Intrigued by the very yellow color of the sky, she recorded it with her phone from the balcony. Later, she told her mother she had filmed something strange. However, there were no other witnesses. The GEIPAN concluded that the phenomenon was an optical reflection caused by the sun on the phone's lens. The teenager claimed to have seen the object before recording it, but her mother did not confirm this. The investigation revealed that the bright spot in the recording was symmetrical to the sun, indicating a photographic artifact. Despite the GEIPAN's doubts, the mother insisted her daughter had observed the phenomenon with her own eyes. In the end, the case was classified as a photographic artifact.
