In July 1968, a Canadian police officer documented a UFO report involving a power outage in Sidney Mines, Nova Scotia. The object was described as a bright white light, the size of a headlamp, moving from east to west. Witnesses reported that the UFO struck the ground near a fence, creating a three-foot diameter scorched area. Heavy rock-like fragments, approximately three inches long and two inches thick, were found and preserved. Local police confirmed that power lines near the site emitted blue smoke and sparks for twenty feet. The incident was recorded by the RCMP and the National Research Council of Canada, though no definitive explanation was reached.
The report details that the object was observed for approximately 45 seconds, and its passage caused a power failure at the local substation. Although no other witnesses were recorded, the investigating officer found the observations credible and carefully documented the incident. This case is part of a series of Canadian UFO reports from the era, showing how authorities approached such events with a methodical and scientific mindset.
