🇬🇧 Ministry of Defence
In November 1987, several reports of unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings were submitted to the UK Ministry of Defence, including testimonies from witnesses in Birmingham, Bristol, and nearby areas. One notable case occurred in Bournville, where an observer reported a "bright light" moving slowly across the sky for about two minutes. The witness, who was outdoors, described the object as a luminous point moving northward, without noise or smell. Despite clear, cloudless conditions, the meteorological office showed no interest in the case.
Another report, this time in Clifton (Bristol), mentioned an object shaped like a hot air balloon, bright orange in color, moving at a speed of 50-60 mph. The witness observed it for about 90 seconds, and although several students passed nearby, they were not interviewed. These cases, while seemingly simple, reflect the variety of descriptions and the lack of a clear explanation in many of the reports.
