In August 1947, a civilian couple in California reported seeing a rectangular object with a white smoke trail. The object, 4 to 6 feet long and 1 to 14 inches wide, was moving at high speed and appeared to be diving shallowly. It suddenly disappeared in a puff of dark gray smoke, leaving no trace.
