Summary

Many natural phenomena can resemble unidentified flying objects. Lenticular clouds, for instance, have a disc-like shape and can appear above mountains at high altitudes. There are also clouds with protrusions, such as "mamma" clouds, which form when parts of the cloud sink into clear air. Noctilucent clouds, located at 80 km altitude, glow after sunset and can be mistaken for aerial objects. Additionally, phenomena like "glory" and halos, caused by the refraction and diffraction of sunlight, have also been misinterpreted as UFOs.

Other phenomena, such as dust devils, water spouts, and "sun pillars," can also appear as strange objects. Sun pillars are vertical light columns seen when ice crystals reflect sunlight. Furthermore, flocks of birds and swarms of moths, under certain lighting conditions, can reflect intensely and appear as flying vehicles. These phenomena, though natural, are frequent causes of UFO reports.
