Summary

In January 1948, an Eastern Airlines pilot reported an unidentified object near Cartersville, Georgia. The object had a circular shape with a flat top, emitted an intense sky-blue flame, and moved at approximately 400 mph. The pilot, who had wartime experience with RAF pilots, compared it to the "Bass Bombs" chased at night. Although meteor or rocket explanations were considered, none fit the description. Military and civilian investigations found no evidence of jet aircraft or explosions in the area, leaving the incident unresolved.

The case was documented by multiple agencies, including the FBI and the Army, which found no trace of an unidentified object in the air or on the ground. Despite the lack of concrete answers, the pilot insisted the object was non-conventional. The final report concluded no connection between the sighting and a mysterious cattle disease outbreak, though both occurred around the same time.
