In July 1948, two women in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, reported seeing an object they described as a "big silver plate". The object suddenly appeared in a cloud and moved silently toward Kennywood Park. One of the witnesses, Mrs. Nell Veway, exclaimed it was not a plane but something resembling a flying saucer. The object, between 12 and 15 inches in diameter, appeared and disappeared among the clouds, causing confusion and curiosity among those who saw it.
