🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1948, U.S. Air Force officers at Fielding Lake, Washington, observed an unidentified formation of objects. Witnesses described about 20 disc or spheroid-shaped objects, grayish in color, moving at speeds exceeding 500 mph. The formation appeared to shift constantly, resembling a shotgun blast pattern, yet maintaining a straight course. No exhaust trails were visible, and no photographs were taken, complicating identification.
The absence of exhaust trails and the description of a sound similar to jet aircraft raised questions about the nature of the objects. Although astronomical explanations were ruled out, researchers suggested they could have been aircraft in formation or migratory birds. This case, cataloged as incident #145, is one of many recorded during Project Grudge, which aimed to explain UFO sightings with conventional causes.
