🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1949, multiple witnesses in Florida reported sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) with similar characteristics. Observers described large, bright green discs with white streaks moving at extremely high speeds, between 400 and 500 miles per hour. These sightings occurred in both Tampa Bay and Orlando, and the witnesses included police officers and civilians. Despite numerous observations, no physical evidence of the objects was found, leading to speculation about their origin. Some suggested they could be secret military aircraft, extraterrestrial spies, or even optical effects caused by weather conditions. The lack of a clear explanation kept the mystery around these events.
Detailed reports from witnesses, including descriptions of the appearance and behavior of the objects, were recorded by military authorities. Although conventional explanations such as lost aircraft or atmospheric phenomena were ruled out, no definitive conclusion was reached. These cases are an early example of how UFO sightings captured public attention and generated debates about their nature. The combination of multiple testimonies and the absence of physical evidence remains a topic of interest for researchers of unexplained aerial phenomena.
