🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1949, the crew of a United Fruit Company ship observed three unidentified aerial objects near San Andrés Island in the Caribbean. The first appeared as a silver sphere that changed color to yellow and red while ascending. Officers described it as an object without visible motor or light, raising questions about its nature. Two additional objects were seen around the same time, one on the port side and another on the starboard side, both disappearing quickly into the dusk. Although weather balloons were considered a possibility, prevailing wind patterns made it unlikely they originated from the local area.
The most plausible hypothesis pointed to two Soviet ships in the region. Retro-traced calculations suggested the objects might have been balloons released by these vessels. However, no official confirmation was made, and the case remains unresolved. This incident is part of a series of UFO sightings from the era, where data was limited and explanations often speculative.
