🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1949, a civil engineering professor at the University of New Mexico observed a bright object that changed shape. The object appeared as a white sphere that elongated into an ellipse. It moved at high speed and performed unusual maneuvers, including a vertical climb followed by a sharp turn to the south. The witness, known for his expertise in meteorites, described the phenomenon in detail, highlighting its luminosity and lack of trail. Although the object disappeared suddenly, its description suggests a non-conventional nature.
The official investigation recorded the testimony as part of a broader report on unidentified aerial phenomena. The professor, considered a reliable source, could not determine the exact speed or altitude due to the event's brevity. The weather conditions were clear, increasing the credibility of the observation. This case, along with similar ones, contributed to the growing database of UFO sightings in the 1940s.
