🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1949, a witness in Honolulu, Hawaii, reported an object in the sky that did not appear to be a balloon, an aircraft, or a conventional astronomical body. The report, part of Project 10073, concluded the object was definitely a celestial body. The observer, who contacted Mount Wilson Observatory, noted the unusual size of the object, which he believed could be a comet or a meteor. Although no photos were taken, the official report ruled out the possibility of it being a man-made object.
The case was investigated by Project Grudge, a U.S. Air Force initiative to study unidentified flying objects. The report, compiled by Agent Charles E. Brooks, concluded there was no evidence of conventional or artificial aerial activity. Despite the lack of precise data on the object's trajectory or speed, the witness was categorical in stating it was not a terrestrial phenomenon. The case was closed without further investigation and declassified decades later.
