🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1949, a U.S. Army officer reported an unidentified flying object near Camp Hood, Texas. The witness, a first lieutenant, observed an object with a fire trail resembling a basketball, bright and between white and red in color. The object was flying at about 2,000 feet, following a straight path parallel to the road. The sighting lasted about 15 seconds and the object disappeared quickly. No complex maneuvers or projections like wings or antennas were noted.
The report mentions radio interference immediately after the sighting, suggesting the object might have emitted some kind of signal. Although the weather was clear, no clouds or unusual conditions were recorded. This document, marked as "unclassified," is part of a series of military investigations into unidentified objects in the 1940s.
