🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1949, a witness in Merced, California, reported an unidentified object that attracted attention due to an intense clicking noise. The object, between 4 and 5 feet in diameter, appeared as a solid mass with a curved surface, reflecting the light of street lamps. While observed, it made a 90-degree turn to the left, maintaining the clicking sound throughout the maneuver. The witness estimated the object was visible for about 35 seconds before it suddenly disappeared. Interestingly, the witness's dog also focused on the object's direction, suggesting the sound might have been perceived differently by animals.
The noise was compared to a misaligned home mixer, and no lights or smoke were observed. Despite the object appearing to move slowly at first, its unusual behavior and continuous sound raised questions about its conventional origin. This case, classified as unidentified, adds another piece to the mystery of UFO sightings in the 1940s.
