In May 1949, a series of sightings of an unidentified object captured attention in Sidney and Maplewood, Ohio. A witness described a silver disc about 6 inches in diameter reflecting very bright light. The object was moving at high speed northeast, whirling and disappearing suddenly. Although several residents saw it, no photos were taken and no physical evidence was found. Military authorities concluded it could have been an aircraft, but no data confirmed this.
