🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1949, a witness in Culpeper, Virginia, observed a disc-shaped object moving at high speed. The observer, a cabinet maker and amateur pilot, described a silver object the size of a five or six-room house. The object appeared suddenly and quickly moved toward the sun, performing a very fast banking maneuver. Despite his experience with aircraft, he couldn't identify it. The report concluded it could be a meteor, but the detailed testimony and object's characteristics raise intriguing questions.
The report notes the object was at an altitude of 1500 to 2000 feet, with an estimated speed of 900 to 1500 mph. The observer noted it left no trail, emitted no sound or odor. Although the official report classifies it as an astronomical phenomenon, the precise description and the witness's experience add a touch of mystery to this case, typical of UFO files from that era.
