🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1948, a witness in Altoona, Pennsylvania, observed a round-shaped object moving across the sky. The report, though incomplete, describes an object making a swishing sound and was seen for about 8 to 10 seconds. Although speed and altitude are not specified, the fact that it was observed from the ground and had a course of 35 degrees suggests a clear and deliberate trajectory. This case, though unclassified, is part of the early UFO reports that began to generate interest in the United States.
The same period saw other notable sightings, such as in Yakima, Washington, where a bright object was seen by airport workers. These reports, though isolated, contributed to the growing curiosity about unidentified aerial phenomena. Despite the data limitations, these testimonies are valuable for understanding how the topic was approached in the 1940s.
