🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Huntsville, Ohio, reported in 1949 a silver, highly reflective object moving at high speed. While driving, he saw a disc or circle with small fin-like projections resembling a seal's flippers. The object approached rapidly, made a sharp turn, and vanished in a northwesterly direction. The observer, an employee of Standard Oil, described the phenomenon in detail and confirmed there was no sound or visible trail. Although the official conclusion pointed to a conventional aircraft, the description suggests something unusual.
The report includes diagrams and testimonies showing the observer's confusion in explaining what he saw. Despite initial skepticism, he insisted on reporting the incident to authorities. The object, at low altitude and silent, raised doubts about its nature. The testimony was taken seriously by an officer who described the witness as intelligent and sincere. This case, like many others, reflects the uncertainty surrounding UFO sightings at the time.
The witness described the object as very bright and moving too fast to be easily tracked. He noted its sudden appearance and disappearance, as well as its strange maneuvering. The lack of sound or vapor trails added to the mystery. The report was shared with military intelligence, but no further action was taken. It remains a classic example of a mid-20th century UFO encounter.
