🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1949, an observer in Los Alamos, New Mexico, spotted a luminous object that changed color during its flight. The object appeared like a star, initially green and then red at the end of its trajectory, with a short red tail. It sharply climbed before falling almost straight down. The witness, a security inspector, described it as self-luminous and did not consider it a meteor due to its unusual behavior.
The report notes that the object was visible for 4-5 seconds, at an estimated altitude of 25 degrees above the horizon, with a flight direction from southwest to northeast. Although no sounds or smells were recorded, the observer estimated the object to be 20-30 miles away. The clear sky and absence of clouds aided the observation. This case, though brief, presents features that do not easily fit conventional explanations.
