🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1949, a citizen of Dayton, Ohio, reported observing an unidentified aerial object that initially appeared to be a disc but, upon closer inspection with binoculars, revealed itself as two connected objects. The first was a yellow diamond with a black spot in the center, attached by a rope or cable to a whitish-yellow disc or oval in the rear. The observer estimated the object to be around 1000 feet in altitude and remained visible for 15 minutes without movement. Despite the detailed description, the investigation concluded it was a box kite, a common explanation in reports of that era. Multiple witnesses confirmed this interpretation, including descriptions of the visible string and tail.
The Project Grudge investigation, part of the U.S. Air Force initiatives, interviewed several witnesses and reviewed local airfield logs, though there was no radar confirmation or other device records. Despite the consistent testimonies, no physical evidence or launch records were found in the area. Ultimately, the report concluded that no logical explanation could be provided for the incident, but the testimonies clearly pointed to a kite as the cause of the sighting.
