🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1949, a physician from Mitchell, Nebraska, observed an unidentified object that appeared to be a flying saucer. The witness described a bright, metallic object approximately 25 feet in diameter moving southwest at high speed. The official Air Force report noted that the object was not identified as a balloon, aircraft, or natural phenomenon. The witness, considered reliable, provided details such as the object's silver color and steady motion. The Air Force concluded there was no clear evidence of a conventional phenomenon.
The report included instructions for further investigation, such as taking photographs, analyzing soil samples, and using Geiger counters. Despite efforts, no physical evidence or additional testimonies were found to confirm the object's nature. Like many cases from that era, this one was closed without a conclusive explanation, adding another mystery to the 1940s UFO files.
