🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1949, a man in Manitou Springs, Colorado, observed an unidentified aerial object that appeared to hang in the air. He described a silver, spherical object about 18 inches in diameter that remained fixed in the same spot without showing signs of movement, propulsion, or emissions. The witness, who called his wife several times during the observation, noticed the object disappeared suddenly when he looked back. No other witnesses or physical evidence were found. Weather conditions were ideal for observation, with clear skies and unlimited visibility.
The Air Force investigation found no conventional explanations. Weather balloons from Denver were considered possible, though wind patterns favored their presence in the area. The witness, a 57-year-old man with manual labor experience, was deemed reliable by friends and acquaintances. However, no evidence of a common balloon or other known artifact was found. The Air Force closed the case without definitive conclusions, leaving the mystery unresolved.
