🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1949, a metallic object shaped like a pie fell near the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Streets in New Orleans. A police officer found it after hearing a sharp noise and the clatter of metal hitting the ground. The object was covered in a sooty substance with a silvery interior. Although several witnesses arrived after the impact, no one saw it in the air. The investigation concluded it was a common aluminum alloy, likely of earthly origin. The presence of cracks and the texture suggested it might have broken off a larger piece.
The metallurgical analysis revealed it was a commercial-grade aluminum casting with porosity and a layer of calcium carbonate. No evidence indicated it had fallen from a nearby building. Despite theories about a "flying disc," the evidence pointed to a conventional explanation. The official investigation closed the case without further significant findings.
