🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An object was sighted over Greenville, South Carolina, on August 15, 1949, at 7:30 PM. Witnesses described it as round, fairly large, gray, and moving northeast. No sound or exhaust trail was reported, and the object maintained a constant speed and altitude. The weather was variable, with scattered clouds and distant thunderstorms, complicating identification.
No physical evidence or photographs were found. A local official was notified for further investigation. The report eventually concluded that the object was a weather balloon released in Tennessee. Despite this explanation, the incident remains intriguing, reported by two witnesses, one of whom worked at the municipal airport.
